Kournas lake, Arkadi monastery, Margarites

On this tour you will visit three different, but equally interesting places.

Your tour will start from the Kournas lake, the only natural freshwater lake on Crete where you will taste a traditional local pie and have plenty of time to explore the lake on a pedalo boat or kanoe kayak.

You will continue to the Renaissance monastery of Arkadi, which played a very important role in resistance movements during the Ottoman occupation of the island. Your tour-guide will tell you all about its great history and architecture, show you a monk’s cell and old relics which the monks hid away in order to save them.

Your next stop will be Margarites, a traditional village which is the center of the ceramic world, where you will meet two potters, who will show you the modern and ancient techniques they use to produce their ceramics.

This tour can also be combined with a guided visit of the old town of Rethymnon, where you can have plenty of time for shopping and lunch.
